Benefits of TKD for children

We believe the most difficult job in the world is to be a child and to grow up.  Children need opportunities and a safe environment to develop and learn the skills of life.  So they may become independent, and self confident.  Some children may be feared and considered to be bullies because of their appearance or attitude.  Whereas in fact such children may simply lack communication skills and be misunderstood.  They may even be shy, or be of a kind and caring nature.  On the other hand any aggressive nature or similar personal issues may be controlled in a positive supportive environment.  With good instruction children may learn skills of self-control that will help them, and enable them to apply those skills to every day life - whether at school, at home, or in a public place.

Training in martial arts also teaches self-motivation and improves ability to concentrate on a task for a longer period of time.  This helps children with their school studies.  We notice that our 14-17 year old juniors can focus on their studies (even during their travel to competitions)  and priotorise their activities without any supervision or enforced learning schedules.

Our head instructor says "I have taught children as young as 3 years old.  I have taught tots in private houses, children at private and public schools as part of their after school sport club activities.  I have also taught kids at schools with mixed classes of adults and children.  I have witnessed the transformation of many children - coming to the class as tiny things and looking scared swimming in oversized uniforms as 5-6 year olds, but turning into confident, skilful practitioners winning numerous competitions, and being able to lead a class of children and adults.  Eventually standing confidently on a podium receiving gold medals after winning Wold Cup titles!  It is an amazing experience to be able to observe such a transformation, and it is so satisfying to be a part of it!"

In martial arts seniority is not by age, but by the skill level...

Adults can learn a lot from training with children.  How to be open to instructions, to learn faster, not to pre-judge strangers, to trust their instructors/seniors to lead and teach them regardless of their own qualifications and experiences.  Everybody has differing physical and mental abilities, but everyone has potential to grow and develop beyond their current abilities.  We teach students according to their individual needs.  When we see one is ready to step up, we put them - regardless of age and abilities - outside their comfort zone, both physically and mentally, so they may find their own limits and let them progress as far they can go!
